"Sister Act" Transition Year Musical

The incredibly talented St Vincent’s Transition Year students are set to tread the boards in what will mark their twelfth consecutive school musical, staging the worldwide smash-hit Sister Act. Following the enormous success of last year’s show Billy Elliot, which was entirely sold out for its three day run, directors Ms. Victoria O’Hagan and Ms. Laura Jones are bringing this high-energy musical extravaganza to Dundalk this May. Inspired by Emile Ardolino's film which starred Whoopi Goldberg, the musical follows Deloris, a struggling cabaret artist whose no-good, sometime boyfriend Curtis threatens her life after she witnesses the gangland hit on snitch, Ernie. Follow the thrills and spills as Deloris attempts to hide her larger than life personality in a convent in downtown Philly amongst The Holy Order of the Little Sisters of Our Mother of Perpetual Faith. Her musical talent breaks down the barriers that divide the community, bridging the gaps with music, dancing and unfailing joie de vivre.

The musical is brought to life by the visually stunning set created by the immensely talented teacher Ms. Carmel Clyne who this year has taken inspiration for the set from the artist Mainie Jellett. Innovative costumier, Ms. Anne Stacey Coburn, has conceived of, designed and created a unique and dramatic wardrobe with custom-made costumes for the entire cast.

The curtains will be raised on this exciting premiere in St. Vincent’s school hall where the show will run from Thursday May 17th until Saturday May 20th. Curtains up at 7pm sharp, doors open from 6.30.
