Sports Round Up

Athletics: In the Leinster Combined Events third year student Niamh Brady came 2nd in the Junior girls qualifying for the All Ireland Schools Combined Events. Meabh O’Connor, Jennifer Trainer. Judith Bell, Ellie Smyth, Lucy Brennan and Isabel Fitzpatrick also competed well.

Gaelic Football: Our U16 team took on Sacred Heart Drogheda and despite a very good team performance were narrowly beaten. Our Senior Gaelic team defeated Santa Sabina Sutton with an excellent team performance qualifying for the Leinster Quarter Finals

Camogie: On Tuesday the 15th of October the Junior and Senior Camogie teams lined out against Drogheda rivals, Sacred Heart Secondary School. The games were held on the Gaelic grounds of DKIT. The Junior teams played the first game and were successful in securing a solid result over their opponents. There were many excellent performances from players on both teams and the future looks bright as the dedication from the new first year cohort was evident on the pitch. The Senior teams played second and were victorious. The game was intense at times, with much action in mid field area.

Swimming: Amy McEvoy, Eliza Logan, Kate Delaney and Rebekah Friel all swam a sensational 200m Medley Relay at the Leinster Senior School Championships to secure a silver medal. The girls also secured bronze in the 200m Freestyle Relay. At the same event here was also individual success for Rebekah Friel who landed silver in the 400m Freestyle and Eliza Logan and Kate Delaney who both took bronze in the 100m Free and 100m Fly events respectively.

Basketball: The U16 and U19 basketball teams enjoyed a successful outing against Loreto Navan. Final score of the U16 game was 47-38 and for the U19s it was 63-38.
