The Science Department each year take part in a number of extra-curricular activities that include:

BT Young Scientist 2017
St Vincent’s Science Department has mentored students for 12 year in a row in the BT Young Scientist and Technologist Competition.

The aim of Scifest is to encourage a love of Science, technology and Maths through active, collaborative, inquiry based learning and to provide a forum for second-level students at local/regional level to present and display their scientific investigations.

John Hooper Silver Medal in Statistics Poster Competition
The goal of this competition is to improve student’s abilities to describe their environment with the help of statistics and to use statistics as a tool for making sense of daily life.

Certified Irish Angus Beef School Competition
This is s a relatively new competition with the aim of promoting the Irish Angus Beef brand in conjunction with Agricultural Science within school. The grand prize was winning 5 Irish Angus calves with the students rearing them along with studying Agricultural Science for two years.

Salters Festival of Chemistry
Salters’ Festivals was held in Trinity this year. This Chemistry Festival comprises of a series of one-day fun events held at universities throughout the UK and Ireland. The festivals provide the opportunity for enthusiastic young students to spend a day in a university department and to take part in practical chemistry activities that are great fun!

Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI)
This a competition where students are invited to come up with one good idea, that will inspire lifestyle changes in the people around them, save energy and help tackle climate change.

BT Business Bootcamp, NOVA UCD, 4 Day Residental Course
