In order to provide a truly inclusive educational environment for all students, St Vincent’s opened an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classroom in September 2019. Our ASD Classroom is called the McAuley Room after Sr Catherine McAuley who founded the Sister of Mercy Order.
This is an exciting development for our school community and training is ongoing to ensure we are providing the highest level of support to students with autism in our school.
Our classroom can accommodate six students and there are two SNA's attached to the classroom as well as a full time teacher. Students will access mainstream classes where appropriate and individual support plans are created to cater for the needs of the individual student.
