Gaeilge

Tá an Ghaeilge iontach tábhachtach dúinn sa scoil mar luíonn sé i gcroílár ár scoile. Tá sé mar chuid dár stair, dár n-oidhreacht agus ar ndóigh dár gcultúr féin. I ndiaidh a lán obair a chur isteach, bhain muid an Ghaelbhratach amach. Mar sin tá muid an-bhródúil as an nGaelbhratach atá in airde i ngairdín na scoile.

Tá coiste againn anseo i Meánscoil Naomh Uinseann a ghlacann páirt i Scéim na Gaelbhrataí gach bliain. Daltaí ón chéad bhliain go dtí an séú bliain atá ar an nGaelbhratach. Fáilte roimh chách freastail ar na cruinnithe.

I rith na bliana, glacaimid páirt i gcuid mhór imeachtaí chun tacú le húsáid na Gaeilge sa scoil agus beocht a chur léi i mbéal an phobail arís. Imeachtaí den sórt seo a leanas: an Fhéile Drámaíochta, Comórtas Abair, Gaeilge 24, Dúshlán, Comhrá, Turas chuig an dráma An Triail, Tráthanna na gCeist agus Céilithe sa scoil chun airgead a bhailiú do charthanachtaí; Seó Bóthair, Forbairt ar na leabhair Ghaeilge i leabharlann na scoile, Turas go Glaschú agus go hOileán Sgitheanach agus Seachtain na Gaeilge. Sin gan trácht a dhéanamh ar na himeachtaí laethúla a théann ar aghaidh ag na cruinnithe nó fiú ar na comhráite ciorcail.

Chun tuilleadh eolais a fháil, chun páirt a ghlacadh inti, labhair le do mhúinteoir Gaeilge le bhur dtoill.

Gaeilge is very important to us here in the school because it plays a central part in the daily life of the school. It is part of our history, our heritage, and of course our own culture. After a lot of hard work we achieved the Gaelbhratach. Our Gaelbhratach is proudly flying in the school garden.

We have a committee in St Vincent’s Secondary School that meet regularly, taking part in the Gaelbhratach. It consists of students from 1st year to 6th year and all are welcome to the meetings.

Each year we take part in a number of different activities to promote the use of Irish in the school and to encourage our community to use it. Activities include: the Féile Drámaíochta, Comórtas Abair, Gaeilge 24, Dúshlán (Challenge), Comhrá, Trip to the drama An Triail, Duolingo, Table Quizzes and Céilís to raise money for charities; Seó Bóthair (Roadshow), Development of Irish books in school library, Trips to Glasgow and to Skye and Seachtain na Gaeilge. That is all without mentioning the daily activities that happen at the meetings and the conversation circles.
